Congratulations to the U-13 Metro League team for winning the Steve Nash Challenge last weekend in Langley. The team played hard and persevered to capture the trophy with 3 dominating victories. The team now turns over to play in the Junior Provincials this weekend at Steveston London which hosts a variety of competitive teams from all over the Lower Mainland. Good Job Guys!

Southarm Community Center will be holding a Free Youth Open Gym for children in grades 4-7 on Sunday mornings from 11:30am - 1:00pm. The program will be supervised by an adult so parents are able to drop off their kids and come back later.

RYBL SPRING LEAGUE
The Richmond Youth Basketball League Spring program is a developmental and recreational league where children ranging from the ages of 5-15 participate in drills and games. The program consists of a 30-45 minute practice followed by a 45 minute - 1 hour long game. Players will be seperated on the first night and will be placed into teams where they will meet their coach and teamates. Registration can be done over the phone or in person at South Arm Community Center. Spots are limited so please register as soon as possible!

RYBL Spring League Small Ball
This is an introduction basketball skill development program running on Thursday nights. The fundamentals will be taught in a fun, safe atmosphere to suit the needs and abilities of young children. Volunteer parents and coaches run this program, so if you’re interested in coaching or helping out, please call 604.718-8448 or e-mail Kenny at ktse2@richmond.ca. Parent’s Code

1. Remember, children are involved in The Richmond Youth Basketball League for their enjoyment, not yours.
2. Children learn best by example.
3. Encourage your child to always play by the rules.
4. Accept your child’s mistakes and disappointments with positive reinforcement.
5. Accept all official’s decisions and respect their integrity.
6. Help your child understand that basketball is a team sport not an individual sport.
7. Teach your child that an honest effort, hard work and fun are just as important as a victory.
8. Please use appropriate language at all times.

Player’s Code

1. Play for the fun of the game.
2. Play by the rules.
3. Cooperate with your coach, team mates and opponents.
4. Work hard for your team and yourself.
5. Respect and accept the officials’ decision.
6. Control your temper.
7. Be a good sport and treat all players with respect.
